Donna is Managing Director, Scotasian Capital. An early startup investor since 1999, she is a member of Life Science Angels, Sierra Angels, Sand Hill Angels, and HealthTech Capital. She regularly participates in screening meetings and as leader of due diligence. Donna has served as board member, advisor and mentor for numerous companies. She often serves as a judge for startup competitions and as a panelist at investment conferences.
Donna worked in the finance industry for more than 35 years. As a commercial banker, she made loans to Silicon Valley businesses in a variety of industries. Donna analyzed creditworthiness, personal commitments, and financial aspects of business applicants. She now applies this hard-won skill set to startup investing and helping early stage companies succeed.
As with her banking clients, Donna works with startups to sharpen their business focus and better articulate their business strategy. Over the years, she has developed a network of professionals whom she can call upon for additional expertise as needed.
Donna is a third generation startup investor. In the 1920s, her grandfather participated in small Chinese-owned businesses in California. Beginning in the 1960s, her uncle invested in and helped start more than 100 companies. As a third generation startup investor, Donna carries the family tradition forward.
For recreation, Donna is an avid bridge player.
